Tokoriki Island 15 Epic Things to Do | Tokoriki Warnings

15 Exciting things to do on Tokoriki Island Fiji, Including Tokoriki warnings and the things you need to know

Tokoriki island is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. With dramatically beautiful scenery as far as the eye can sea above land and under water, this is natural wonder of the world. Tokoriki island is located a 45 minute boat ride from mainland Fiji and has 2 beautiful resorts on it. It is accessible by boat but also has helicopter landing pads for guest that want to arrive in fashion. The resorts have been fully renovated in the last 2 years to please the most toughest critics. We spent over a week on this small island with no shortage of things to do for my wife and I and our 2 children.

Although this island is not for the budget traveller, there are many things to do to save money on Tokoriki island. No need to pay for excursions as the hotels provide most of the entertainment and amenities at no additional cost to the guest. Here is the total Tokoriki guide, and the 15 Epic Tokoriki things to do on Tokoriki island.

  1. Snorkelling around Tokoriki Island

The snorkelling on the surrounding waters around Tokoriki island is spectacular. You can literally find a beautiful reef from any water entry point on the island. The reef is a pretty good swim out, so the resorts will jet ski you out. They will check up on you every now and then, and will pick you up when you are ready to go back in. When you get out to the reef, there is a dramatic drop off with different type of coral all over it. My first snorkel on Tokoriki, I saw 3 sharks! Don’t worry they were small reef sharks and do not bite. I also saw clownfish and tons of hard and soft coral. I woke up every morning to snorkel. If you have never tried this activity you have to try it. I wrote a how to snorkel like a pro guide, you should read this before you try.

  2. Scuba Diving

There is one dive shop on the island located at the Tokoriki island resort. They will take you out to all of the best spots surrounding the island. You will get the experience to see giant clams the size of a human. The dive company is called Tokoriki diving.

  3. Shore fishing Tokoriki or Boat fishing Tokoriki

If you have ever read any of my trip details, you would know that I love to fish. I bring a collapsible fishing rod everywhere I travel and the shore fishing is great on Tokoriki island. You can also fish by boat with local fisherman or fish from one of the resorts Kayaks!

  4. Hike all around the Island

Hiking here is a lot of fun and is very easy. You can hike all around the island and explore hidden beaches. I hiked from The Sheraton to Tokoriki island resort. Then I hiked to the top of the island. Here you can get really nice pictures of the entire island and panoramic ocean pics.

  15. Collect Shells

For some reason, the sea shells that came up on the beach were some of the best I have collected anywhere. Some countries do not allow you to bring these home. So beware of the local laws. Kids love to be challenged to collect shells and can spend a lot of time hunting out the rare gems.

Lovo is a Fijian delicacy and a huge part of the food culture in Fiji. The Hawaiians Roast pigs, the Fijians have a Lovo! Lovo is where they take various types of meat including fish, crab, pork and chicken and wrap it in large tropical leaves. They then dig a hole in the ground and have a fire. The food is then placed in the hot hole and covered with dirt and stone to keep the heat in. When the food is ready it is fall off the bone tender!

If you are going to another country, you should try the local cuisine. Fijian has an amazing foodie culture as there are 2 culture combined into one. There are the Indian Fijians and the Native Fijians. The Indians are from south Indian decent and their foods are very tasty. Try chicken curry, or lamb curry. The Native Fijian food is also excellent, one of my favourite things I ate while I was there was Kokoda, Namo or Taro.
