Canadians Are Allowed On Survivor, Taking applications Now!

Great news for Canadian Survivor fans, for the first time Canadians are now allowed on Survivor! Jeff Probst the Survivor Host also released an official video welcoming Canadians to apply.

Fans have been waiting years for this news or a Canadian version of the show to start with disapointment year after year. I Personally am one of the fans that feel fit to be on the show and have literally dreamt about it. Having watched every season of survivor some multiple times has given like many others an in depth understanding of the game and the drive to win it!

Survivor is a reality TV series that captivated the world with a total of 37 seasons complete. They take a large group of around 20-25 individual and place them on a deserted island where they are split up into multi camps usually 2. There they compete team Vs team and when one team loses one of the elaborate obstacle course type competitions they are sent to tribal council where the team chooses which member to vote off based on a number of factors. Those factors include things like are they helping the team in competitions? Are they going to beat me when we get close to the end? Are they helping out at camp? and many other factors. Once the teams members dwindle down to the point of absolute failure the show merge the 2 teams into one and each person completes individually.

About Survivor

There is much more to the show than just that but the Motto of the show is to Outwit, Outlast and Outplay. The gave is in a category of it own in that it is almost sentient with so many moving parts, twists and turns. The characters and personalities on Survivor are so diverse often clashing together, this ads to the drama of the show and attracts a different breed of viewer as the show can appeal to many different types of viewers.

Canadians have always been huge fans of survivor and now they can join the Survivor team making the show even more diverse. I applaud the cast for making an effort as they have received thousands of applications from Canadians and we are going to bring it!

Are Canadians Fit to be on Survivor?

Canadians are a breed of their own, not to discount in any way the Americans as we all know you can do it. Canada has harsh weather patterns throughout the year going from extreme cold to extreme heat. Physiologically this has made their bodies immunely stronger in some cases, this will help on the show as Canadians may be less likely to get sick and will be able to stand up to elements. On Survivor this is a huge benefit, when you watch the show you will see that participants get rained on for days at a time or they are getting burnt in the sun.

Canadians love to hunt and fish

For many Canadians including myself this was a part of our upbringing. We fish in lakes and rivers using a multitude of techniques including fly fishing, regular rod fishing and even spearfishing. On our coast Canadians learn to crab and lobster hunt and clam and oyster hunt. The Canadians inland hunt in forests for deer, Bison, Duck etc. Canadians are born hunters, however learning how to prepare the catch is also something most Canadians learn at a young age. All of these things will be required on Survivor, and if you cannot do it there will be consequences like you tribe feeling like they are carrying you or simple starvation.

Canadians are great swimmers

Canadians learn to swim in pools lakes and rivers for the most part. Lakes and rivers have very low level of buoyancy so floating is not an option like in the salty oceans. On Survivor, there will be many competition that involve swimming. Further to this every day life in camp will also involve swimming, while hunting and spearfishing.

Canadians are likeable people

No matter where in the world you travel, people love Canadians. They are open book, likeable people that other people can relate to. This is a huge asset on the show Survivor as a big part of the game is the social aspect, and people wanting to be on an alliance with you.

So what are they saying over at survivor about this?

Jeff Probst said “I am happy to say that – finally – I can say to Canadians, ‘You should apply to be on ‘Survivor’ because you can be,” Probst declares. “For the first time ever, we’re looking to have Canadians on the show.”

Another host said “I think Canadians will do great and honestly because they understand the game. ‘Survivor’ is a game in addition to having to survive the elements – which Canadians know how to do – you have to know how to play this game and it’s exciting for us, if I’m being quite candid because we have a whole new country to find people from.”

Jeff Probst also said “It’s hard to get on ‘Survivor’”, he says. “We’re super picky, we’re looking for really compelling people and interesting stories and I’ve seen so many people over the years apply and then I find out, ‘Oh man, they’re Canadian and we can’t do it.’ Those days are gone,”

What is Survivor Looking for in an applicant?

“Authenticity is the only thing you have to have and I know that sounds like a vague answer, but what I am saying is you don’t have to be a filmmaker. We don’t care. You don’t have to jump off buildings unless that’s what you do. If you’re a mom who has decided, ‘We have 2 kids of 3 kids or 1 and I’m gonna stay at home, I’m gonna raise the family and run the home. My husband and the dad is gonna go out and earn the money.’ Okay, that’s an interesting story,” he says. “Tell us about your life. What’s a day in your life look like and why do you want to do ‘Survivor’? Maybe the answer is ‘Because I want to get away from the kids.’”

“We just want to get a sense of who you are so we can begin to figure out how you would fit on the show,” Probst adds. “That’s all we’re doing is we’re meeting people and saying, ‘Okay how would they fit?’. Like this season, David and Goliath started to emerge and then we start looking at people and thinking, ‘Huh, are they a David or Goliath? Do we have anybody like them? If we do let’s wait for them and put them on next season.’ It’ll be the same process.”

“Just be yourself, and that’s really it,

Where can I apply?

Here is the link to apply. They have a written application to get on survivor along with a video about yourself. https://www.cbssurvivorcasting.com/home

Will they accept Americans over Canadians on Survivor?

In my opinion I believe Survivor will want to have as many Canadians as they can get on the show not only to please their Canadian viewers, but also to show the diversity the show wants to bring. Corporations love to be big news as it keeps them top of minds and Survivor is no different. Having Canadians in upcoming seasons will help them skyrocket ratings and bring another generation of loyal followers.

Will I be applying?

I will be applying to be on Survivor as will I’m sure hundreds of other Canadians. We have been waiting for this moment for a long time, not for the potential money it will bring in but also for the life experience. Viewers of the show critique the gameplay as if it was the world series….me included, and I have always wanted to find out. “AM I GOOD ENOUGH FOR SURVIVOR?”
