Healing at the Banff Upper Hot Springs/ Warnings and Tips
We have been going to the hot springs in Banff since we were very young, we share with you healing at the Banff Upper Hot springs warnings and tips! Last week, during a 4 night stay in Banff we brought our children to these magical hotsprings. It was actually a dream of mine to do this with my entire family, and i was happy as hell when they all loved it!
I was a little worried that the kids would have gotten too hot and we would have had to leave too fast but this was a non issue, we ended up staying there for hours. When we left we were clean and totally relaxed. Actually when we got back to our camp we all passed out for a long nap in our tent!
What are the Banff hot springs?
The Banff Upper hot springs are a naturally occurring hot spring located on sulphur mountain. It was used by a native tribe for hundreds of year for body healing and restoration long before it was commercialized.
This is one of the top things to do in Banff. The natural hot pools have an extremely high mineral count that include calcium, Sulphate, bicarbonate, magnesium and sodium making it awesome for your skin and body.
When I call this naturally occurring, don’t expect that this is a hot spring in ditch. When it was commercialized they built an entire facility around it and created a huge pool, with change rooms, restaurant and a gift shop.
Why do I love the Banff hot springs?
They have made this place really easy in all ways. It is a tourism magnet. Located minutes from Banff town there is a huge parking lot. Walk up to the building and there are all of the same amenities of a pool and more including towel rental and bathing suit rental. There are large change rooms with locker and hot showers.
How much does the Banff hot springs cost?
The hot springs cost $7.30 for adults and $6.30 for children. Stay as long as you want here.
You can get a family discount if you have 2 adults and a couple of children that make it cheaper.
You can also get a discount/coupon if you have a valid ama card
Are the Banff Hot Springs good for kids?
Like I said before, the banff hot springs were great for kids as long as you are regulating their temperatures. In the main part of the pool it is really warm…not hot. They can still go there, but they will need breaks every few minutes. We parked ourselves beside the little child wadding area right at the hot spring entrance. There is a place for the adults to sit in the hot spring while they are close to their children in wading area.
The only way we were able to stay for a long time was we hung out in this area, and let the kids play.
How Hot Are the Banff Hot springs?
At the time the hot springs were 37 Degrees celcius. Like a really warm bath.
Are the Banff Upper hot springs wheelchair accessible?
Yes, there is an elevator to get down from the main floor and there is a ramp into the actual hot springs.
What is the best time to go to the Banff Hot springs?
In my opinion, I prefer when it is cool outside. This trip it was summer and we went in the early morning. We were tenting at the tunnel mountain village campground and it got really cold out at night and in the morning. We went to the hot springs to heat up our bodies and to have a nice hot shower! It was great.
I also love to go in the winter time when it is snowing. If you are travelling with the kids then you have to try this. It is really cool and a memorable experience to them.
In the evening when it is dark outside the hot springs can be a really romantic spot. It has amazing views and this help create a cozy feeling before shutting down for the night. My wife and I used to go our for a romantic dinner, then hit the hot springs after. By the end of that, you will be ready for bed!

I love the hot springs, in my opinion it all depends on your mindset. I love to think that the hot springs are a healing thing for my body.
The hot springs are located on sulphur mountain, this is the same mountain that the banff gondola goes up. It is surrounded by beautiful mountains. The views from the hot springs are epic as it looks down on banff town.
They have made it really convenient to visit the hot springs, with paved road, and a large facility with all of the amenities.

Outside the hot spring there is a small waterfall. It is of the same hot water that is coming from inside the mountain that flows into the hot springs. Often, you can see deer and other wildlife hanging around this area.
