Getting Sick In El Nido, How to Fix Travellers Diarrhea fast
Right now I am in El Nido, Palawan, Philippines and myself and my child have picked up some sort of bug. It starts out slow with cramping, weird gas and basic nausea. As the day progressed the cramping intensified and then the diarrhea started. Everyones body is different and for some they start vomiting. If you are travelling in the Philippines for a long period of time or anywhere else in south east Asia for that matter, there is a good chance you or your kids will get travellers diarrhea. How to fix travellers diarrhea fast in El Nido.
One thing I would recommend to anyone planning a tight trip to the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia or anywhere else in Asia is to plan to be out of commission for 3 days.
If you are travelling as a family this could work out to a longer time frame because one person may get it and then another might as well at a different time.
What is Travellers Diarrhea, and why do I get it?
I have had this disgusting bug a few times, once unfortunately on my honeymoon. If you don’t catch it early and deal with it properly you will ruin more days out of your trip. The first time I got it, I was in denial about it and I continued to eat street food and drink alcohol. This gave the bug more time to multiply in my system and it got so severe that I swore that if a child got it, they could have died.
I literally went to the bathroom 30+ times in a day on my first ever round of travellers diarrhea. This happened in Thailand, and I was not prepared for it. The great thing about these countries is that they know that the travellers are not used to their bugs, and they have pharmacies all over the place with over the counter medication to treat this fast.
On my most recent stint with travellers diarrhea, I was prepared….More-so my wife was prepared for me to get it. She knows I like to try dumb things like all of the cheap street food I can eat. I was able to get rid of it in 2 days successfully and this is how we did it.
