9  Uniques Ways to Stay Fit In Honolulu, Oahu Exercise

It is really easy to let yourself go and eat and drink everything in sight when you are on vacation in Hawaii. Honolulu in particular has so many awesome restaurants with tasty everything. I’m starting to get fat just thinking about it…. I need to get some exercise in Oahu. 9 Unique ways to stay fit in Honolulu, Oahu exercise.

Before we got to a Hawaii, I was on as strict diet and workout regimen. My intension was for my abs to pop, by the time I got to Hawaii. No alcohol, low carb and no eating after 7. As soon as I got here I let it all go. Chilling at the beach a Dukes bar having beers or hopping on the booze cruise off Waikiki beach were some of my favourite things to do.

We are here for 2 weeks and I feel like something has to change. So I set out to get fit in Honolulu and to exercise every day in a fun Hawaiian way.

9 Unique ways to get fit in Honolulu, Oahu Exercise

1. Surfing

You Can surf at most of the beaches on Oahu, and many of these beaches will rent the boards right there on the beach. Waikiki beach has multiple places you can rent a board. Surfing is an exhausting sport and will give you a good cardio workout as well as full lower body stabilization workout when you are on the board. You have to use your core to get up on the board and your arms and back will get a good workout when you are paddling out, and when you are paddling with a wave. This is how those surfers have such awesome physique. It is a strenuous sport, and will have you as fit as a fiddle (whatever that means).

2. Jogging The Waikiki Canal

The Canal in Waikiki is a really pretty place to go for a jog. Either direction will take you to a different park that will lead to a beach. I do this in the mornings and for me it is one of the best ways to get fit in Oahu.

3. Swimming In The Ocean

Swimming in the ocean is much more strenuous than swimming in a pool. There are waves and currents that you have to fight against that will stimulate your muscle growth!

4. Hiking In the Mountains

The mountains in and around Honolulu on Oahu are spectacular. We love to hike, and this is one of the best places in the world to do it. The mountain on Oahu will give you varying levels of slope and will help workout your cardiovascular systems well as your legs and lower body.

Climbing will work your calves out. and running during the hike will work out your lungs and heart! It is and easy way to get fit in Oahu because it doesn’t feel like exercise, it just feels like adventure!

5. Snorkeling

This is another one of those activities that you probably don’t have access to back home. The snorkelling in Honolulu on Oahu is amazing. You not only get the same workout you get from swimming, but you will also get a good lung workout. I like to dive down deep and hold my breath called free diving. It allows me to get closer to the sea life and makes me feel like I am scuba diving. This stretches my lungs and potentially gives it more lung capacity.

6. Pushups in the park

There are really beautiful parks in and around Honolulu. Every morning there will be people getting fit there by doing all sorts of exercises. While I jog, I stop and do some pushups in the park. This give me a nice pectoral workout.

7. Eat vegan!

Honolulu is a vegan dream spot, they sell fresh fruit and vegetables everywhere. The Hawaiian people try to eat very fresh and there are many vegan restaurant in the Waikiki area of Honolulu. Eating vegan in Oahu will decrease bloating, help you loose weight and give your body what in needs to be fit.

8. Local Gyms

The locals gyms have short term memberships that you can buy. ou can buy one week or 2 week with no commitment. Or you can just pay a drop in fee. Lifting weights is an important part of being healthy on Oahu.

9. Vacation Sex

If you are on vacation, you can spice up your workout with some vacation sex. Vacation sex for me is a higher frequency and a wilder sweatier time!

10. SUP Paddle Boarding

Stand up paddle boarding can give you an awesome stabilization workout. You are on a board and it is rocking left and right. You use a paddle to move around that will give you a good shoulder workout.

11. Scuba Diving

When you scuba dive, you will not only swim and control your breathing. You will also at some point have to carry the heavy tank. This helps you work your lower back and quads!

12. Yoga in the Park

Many of the parks and beaches in Honolulu will offer yoga classes in the park. My mother really likes these classes and so does my wife. They are inexpensive and will help you get the exercise you need when you are in Hawaii!
