7 Top Things to Do with Kids in Ko Olina

1. Build a sandcastle

As I said earlier the sand in the lagoons of Ko Olina are soft and clear of debris. The sand is also a bit moist because the tide rises high up on the beaches in this area. Because of this, it is really easy to build an epic sand castle, the sand actually sticks.

2. Teach kids how to snorkel

My son and I love to snorkel, he has been doing it since he was 4 years old. The water is so still in this area and there is little to no current. This makes it the perfect spot to teach a kid how to snorkel.

3. Cool off at the beach

The sun in Honolulu and actually all of Hawaii is bright and hot. At around 1pm your are going to want to have the kids shaded or in the water. The beaches in Ko Olina or the pools at the hotels in the area are the best place for them to be around this time. Our kids go in and out of the water to cool off throughout the day.

There is shore fishing in Ko Olina and there are some awesome catches you can get from here. Tourist do not need a license to fish here. Just make sure you are not catching and keeping fish that are not the right size or breed. Here is a link to the fishing regulations on Oahu.

5. Ice cream shops

Our kids loved the small ice cream shops they have all around Ko Olina. Hawaiian ice cream is amazing and it is the perfect way to cool off the kids.

6. Disney Resort Ko Olina

Ko Olina is the area that the Disney resort is located in. If you can afford this place averaging around $300 per night US, your kids will have an amazing time. It is located in Lagoon or beach #1. The best beach for snorkelling. The Ko Olina Disney resort has fun activities and Lu Aus happening all day, and an epic pool. It is designed like a hawaiian Tiki hut!

7. Explore every lagoon

Kids love to explore the different beaches and lagoons in Ko Olina. They are in pretty close vicinity of each other. Some of the resort will allow the guests to use the golf carts that makes the ride from beach to beach more of an adventure!
